Foreign Ministry Senior Undersecretary Meets the Armenian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Sign a Draft Agreement on Exempting Passport Holders of Visa and a Draft Memorandum of Understanding for Political Consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Two Countries
Foreign Ministry Senior Undersecretary Mr. Nizar Al-Khairallah met today Monday, 22/2/2021, with the Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Mr. Artak Apitonian, who is on an official visit to Iraq. During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation between Iraq and Armenia in various political, economic and cultural aspects, cooperation in the field of higher education and facilitating the granting of entry visas to citizens of both countries, and the possibility of opening a direct air line between Baghdad and Yerevan. The political and security developments were also discussed and the importance of finding appropriate solutions to end the conflicts and wars in some countries was emphasized.
At the conclusion of the meeting, a draft agreement was signed between the two countries to exempt holders of diplomatic, service, and special passports from the requirements for entry visas, as well as the signing of a draft memorandum of understanding for political consultations between the two countries’ Foreign Ministries, which were signed on the Iraqi side by the Foreign Ministry Senior Foreign Minister while it was signed from the Armenian side by the Armenian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
