Chargé d’Affairs meets the Director General of The Museum of Mediterranean and Near Eastern Antiquities

Chargé d’Affairs, Mr. Pewan Zawitai, met with Ms. Ann Follin, Director General of The Museum of Mediterranean and Near Eastern Antiquities on Tuesday November 8th.

The meeting started with a presentation of Ms. Ann Follin on the history, work, activities and plans of the museum.

Mr. Zawitai briefed on the Iraqi cultural heritage highlighting the damage it has been suffering from since 2003 and the role of international cooperation in retrieving looted cultural objectives.

The two sides discussed several cultural topics focusing on ways of cooperation between museums in Iraq and Sweden as well as opportunities for joint works in the fields of museums, capacity building, archiving and preservation.

In conclusion a set of proposals was agreed to be followed up
