Charge d’Affairs meets representative of the Stockholm Environment Institute

Mr. Pewan Zawitai, Chargé d’Affairs, met with Mr. Tim Suljada, Head of Resources, Rights and Development Division at Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) on 13/9/2022.

The meeting discussed environmental degradation in Iraq and efforts aiming at tackling disastrous consequences of climate change as Iraq is considered as one of the five most vulnerable countries in the world to climate change.

Chargé d’Affairs highlighted challenges facing Iraq and actions that must be taken to minimize the impact of climate change.

Mr. Zawitai stressed the need for more support in the field of environment through capacity building, transfer of technology and expertise.

Discussions were also focused on the prospects for cooperation between the Institute and the Iraqi organizations concerned, and both sides agreed to continue the dialogue.
