Archaeological sites in Dohuk
Dohuk Museum: containing a wide range of archaeological pieces of around (1000 pieces) with in the period between stone ages and Islamic age.
Amediya City: located on the historic silk road, it had three gates: Zibar, Basha, Mosul. The city had a number of archeological pieces dated back to Assyrian and Islamic periods as there are inscription of Arabic Kufic script and Quranic verses on some of the city’s gates, there is an ancient church.
Khinis/ Khanosa Relief is an outdoor location lies 16 km northeast of Shekan, in the Khinis Valley east of the Gomel River. This ancient site was built the Assyrian King Sennacherib (700 B.C.), who named it Khanosa.
