Visit “For Our Children” Foundation

The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in Bulgaria H.E. Mrs. Lina Omar, visited the Complex for early childhood development of the “For our children” foundation in the city of Plovdiv, at the invitation of Mrs. Ivanka Shalapatova, executive director of the foundation . During the event, Mrs. Shalapatova expressed her satisfaction and gratitude to the guests, ambassadors and representatives of the diplomatic missions in Bulgaria, including representatives of the local authorities, for responding to the invitation, which in turn will contribute to the promotion of the institution and this will lead to positive results and overcome the difficulties faced by disadvantaged children and supporting them and their families.

 According to Mrs. Shalapatova, this can be achieved through permanent meetings between the representatives of the diplomatic missions and with the Bulgarian local authorities of the Plovdiv municipality. The meeting also discussed how in 2023 to provide support to more and more children in need of care, assistance and attention.

A tour was made around the foundation, which is located in the building of the first orphanage in Bulgaria. The guests also visited the museum exhibition “The Other Childhood”, developed in partnership with The Foundling Museum, London. During the presentation, the executive director of the foundation introduced the guests to the most important achievements over the years and outlined the main work priorities this year and the social and integrated services provided by the Foundation for Children and Parent and provided over the years.

It should be noted that the above-mentioned organization was established in 1992 as a Bulgarian non-governmental organization for the support of poor families and orphaned children, and it has headquarters in Sofia and Plovdiv.
