Meeting with the Dean of the Center for Eastern Languages ​​and Cultures at Sofia University

The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in Bulgaria, H.E. Mrs. Lina Omar, met with the director of the Center for Eastern Languages ​​and Cultures at Sofia University, Prof. Dr. Ivo Banov, in the building of the Iraqi Embassy.
   The center is considered the first of its kind in Bulgaria, as it consists of more than fifteen scientific departments and it teaches more than 25 foreign languages, including (Arabic, English, French, Spanish, German, Persian, Turkish, Azerbaijani , Hindi and others). It is part of Sofia University, which was established in 1888 and includes about sixteen specialized faculties for all scientific and humanitarian disciplines, including (medicine, pharmacy, law, languages, literature, administration and economics, arts, Slavic studies, journalism and media, philosophy, etc.)
    During the meeting, Ambassador Lina Omar expressed her desire to provide opportunities for coordination between Sofia University / Center for Eastern Languages ​​and Cultures and Iraqi universities to conclude a contact with the center by activating the signed memorandum of understanding, as well as signing a new memorandum for understanding and provision of and opportunities for exchange of scientific experience and publication of articles and scientific research in the journal of the university.
Prof. Dr. Ivo Banov, for his part, welcomed these efforts to create areas of cooperation between Sofia University / Center for Eastern Languages ​​and Cultures and Iraqi universities for the exchange of scientific experience that would benefit both countries, as noted the desire of the Sofia University to activate the memorandum of understanding signed in 2010 with the University of Erbil.
At the end of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Ivo Banov invited H.E. Mrs.Ambassador Lina Omar to visit the Center and the language departments housed in it.
