Attending an offcial ceremony on the occasion of the Honorary Torchbearer of Peace Award
At the invitation of the Mayor of Pazardzhik, Mr. Todor Popov, the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Bulgaria, H.E. Mrs. Lina Omar, attended an official ceremony organized on the occasion of the International Day of Peace.
The event was attended by the football player Hristo Stoichkov and the Olympic champion of rhythmic gymnastics Madeleine Radokanova, who received the “Honorary Torchbearer of Peace” award.
When receiving the award, the player Stoichkov stated that “peace must be within us and around us, and that is why we succeeded and we will continue to succeed”. He added that”he bears this great responsibility as the bearer of the torch of peace and will defend it as he always defended the Bulgarian coat of arms”.
The Mayor of Pazardzhik, Mr. Todor Popov, stressed during the ceremony that it is a great honor for the city to host this event, and it is the fruit of our efforts to work for development and prosperity.
The ceremony was attended by Their Excellencies ambassadors, diplomats, athletes and many citizens of Pazardzhik.
