World Taekwondo Championship for Cadets and Juniors in Sofia with the participation of Iraq 18 Aug meetings 58 At the invitation of the International Taekwondo Federation, the national team of Iraq participated in the World Taekwondo Championship for Cadets and Juniors which was held in Sofia, in the period from 24.07.2022 to 08.08.2022. The tournament was opened by the President of the Republic Bulgaria Mr. Rumen Radev, who congratulated the organizers of this significant sports event and highlighted the dedication of parents and coaches who motivate young athletes, which in turn gives them the opportunity to develop as strong and confident individuals, not only in sports, but and in life, and wished the competitors to set an example in affirming the principles in sports and sports values.The Iraqi team was given special attention by the President of the International Taekwondo Federation and the Secretary General of the Federation. During the meeting between the two countries, the President of the International Taekwondo Federation confirmed his admiration for the level shown by the players of the Iraqi junior and youth team in World Cup, as well as for his remarkable performance in other international championships, and marked his full support for the Iraq national team. At the invitation of Ambassador Lina Omar, the Iraqi delegation consisting of 22 athletes (Cadets and Juniors) and coaches visited the Embassy. During the conversation, the Iraqi Ambassador wished the athletes improvement in their sports skills and success, and stressed that the embassy is ready to provided all kinds of assistance to the team. On his part, the head of delegation, Dr. Ibrahim Shanin, thanked the Embassy team for their willingness to provide assistance and support, as well as for encouraging the players during the championship, and expressed hope that the team would win medals to raise the name of Iraq in this world-class event. At the end of the meeting, the head of the delegation of the national taekwondo team presented the embassy with a souvenir on behalf of the delegation.
