Celebration of the Day of Bulgarian Education, culture and Slavic Script


On May 24, 2022, the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Bulgaria Omar H.E Mrs. Lina Omar attended an invitation by the Bulgarian President H.E. Mr. Rumen Radev, to mark the Day of Bulgarian education, culture and the Slavic script.
The event was also attended by the Prime Minister Kiril Petkov, cabinet, members representatives of religious communities in Bulgaria, as well as Ambassadors accredited to Bulgaria.
In his speech, the President noted that “today the situation is changing – the Bulgarians are everywhere, and our children and grandchildren often speak several languages, but the mother tongue is the thread through which our citizens can always find their way home with blood and that our language will continue to unite us as a people. “
President Radev noted that today there are seven million Bulgarians in Bulgaria, millions of others are outside the Fatherland, but there is always an invisible homeland that everyone takes with them wherever they go – this is the Bulgarian language, said the President. “From birth we are destined to think and feel the beautiful, rich, sonorous, nuanced and expressive native speech.
In his final speech, the president added that “Times are changing. Today, Bulgarians are everywhere, and our children and grandchildren often speak several languages. But the native language, as I have had occasion to say before, is the thread through which our compatriots by blood can always find their way home. “
He added that “with the presence of scientists and artists who maintain a clear conscience, they spread the glory of the homeland around the world.”
 At the end of the ceremony, the President congratulated the entire Bulgarian people – scientists, writers, teachers, museum directors and Bulgarian officers, who preserved the dignity of the Bulgarian nation and in words built the future of Bulgaria.
