Iftar on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan

The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq, H.E. Mrs. Lina Omar, attended the traditional “Iftar” dinner on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan on February 4, 2022, given by the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, H.E. Mr. Rumen Radev. The event was attended by representatives of the traditional religious communities in Bulgaria, the Chief Mufti of the Republic of Bulgaria Mr. Mustafa Hadji, representatives of the diplomatic corps, as well as prominent cultural and educational figures.

The traditional “Iftar” is an expression of respect for the sacred traditions and rites of the Bulgarian citizens with Islamic faith.

 During the event, the President Radev addressed the guests and noted that the “ Iftar “ tradition symbolizes goodwill, understanding and cooperation between religious communities in the country and contributes to inter-institutional and inter-religious dialogue in Bulgarian society. Rumen Radev pointed out the wisdom of the Bulgarian people, who managed to build a lasting culture of tolerance between the various religious and ethnic communities in the country, which even today shows our compatriots the path bequeathed by our ancestors.
