Participation of the Embassy in an event organized by the State Cultural Institute on the occasion of the international Women’s Day
The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Bulgaria H.E Mrs. Lina Omar attended an event organized by the State Cultural Institute under the Minister of Foreign Affairs on the occasion of the International Women’s Day- March 8 . Many of the women Ambassadors in Sofia from a number of countries gathered at the invitation of the Ambassador of the Republic of Albania to Bulgaria H.E.Mrs. Donika Hodja and the Chairperson of the Commission for Protection against Discrimination Assoc. Prof. Ana Djumalieva.
The guests were welcomed by the Director of the State Cultural Institute to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mrs. Snezhana Yoveva, by H.E. Mrs. Donika Hodja and the Chair of the Commission for the Protection of Women against Discrimination, Assoc. Prof. Mrs. Ana Dzhumalieva, who highlighted the important leading role of the women in these difficult days.
Special congratulations to the guests were expressed by Mrs. Maya Dobreva, Director General for Political Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasizing the importance of more and more women to continue to realize their dreams through knowledge and ambition.
Assoc. Prof. Ana Dzhumalieva, Chair of the CPD, made a historical retrospection of the presence and the role of women from antiquity to present, highlighted the current problems and challenges that women face every day.
On the meeting were discussed issues related to the place of the women and their role in public and political life, gender equality in the workplace and the work-life balance.
During the event, the touch to the works of the contemporary art Bulgarian artist Dr. Nina Ruseva, inspired by the power of the earth – the beautiful caves in Bulgaria and Northern Macedonia.
All guests had the opportunity to get acquainted in details with the art works of Dr. Nina Ruseva and her father, the famous sculptor Ivan Rusev, whose stone columns statues greet everyone at the entrance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
