Oath-taking ceremony of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria

The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq H.E. Lina Omar attended the official inauguration ceremony of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria Mr. Rumen Radev and the Vice President Mrs. Iliana Yotova, which took place on St. Alexander Nevsky Square in Sofia downtown on January 22, 2022, and at the previously held swearing-in ceremony of the President and Vice-President of the Republic in the National Assembly, on January 19, 2022.
In his speech, the President Radev stressed that in the coming years he will abide by the laws of the country and in all his actions will be guided by the interests of the people, defending the sovereignty, law, security and justice in Bulgaria. In his speech, the President pointed out that political change is only the first step, there are more trials ahead and expressed hope that the entire political generation of politicians should be aware of it.
The ceremony ended with a solemn march of the honor guard. Afterwards, the President Rumen Radev and Vice President Iliana Yotova lit candles at St. Sophia Church.
The ceremony was attended by Parliament Speaker Nikolay Minchev, Prime Minister Kiril Petkov, senior military officials, senior clergy, representatives of the diplomatic corps, representatives of the government administrations, NGOs and citizens.
