International Women’s Day

On March 8, 2024, a celebration was held at the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Sofia under the auspices of the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in the Republic of Bulgaria, Mrs. Lina Omar, on the occasion of the International Women’s Day, in the embassy building, and in the presence of the embassy employees.

H.E. the Ambassador Lina Omar opened the celebration with a welcome speech on this occasion, in which she reviewed the importance and significance of women in society, wishing Iraqi women further success and progress, along with the basic duties they have in caring for the family and the role, which they perform for its development.

In her speech, Ambassador Lina Omar emphasized the need to activate efforts to achieve all human and social rights of women, preserve their dignity and strengthen their role in leadership positions in the political, economic and cultural fields. At the end of the celebration, the Ambassador presented bouquets of roses to the women present at the celebration, with the words “Every year you are a symbol of life, patience and dedication, ambition and hope.” Happy Women’s Day!
