Conference of Ambassadors in Baghdad-2023. (Iraqi diplomacy)

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs held the Seventh Conference of Ambassadors in Baghdad for the period 4-8 November 2023 under the motto “Iraqi Diplomacy: Balanced International Relations and Sustainable Economic Development”. The opening session of the conference was attended by H.E. Mr. Abdul Latif Ahmed Rashid, President of Iraq, H.E. Mr. Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, Prime Minister of Iraq, as well as Mr. Faiq Zaidan, the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, and Mr. Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, the First Deputy Speaker of the Parliament.

During the conference, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted its position to maximize the benefit and expand the scope of the exchange of sectoral and specialized dialogues with the relevant committees in the Iraqi parliament, as well as with ministers, experts, advisers and military chiefs in the Iraqi government. The conference sessions discussed topics such as: National and National, Counter-Terrorism, Energy, Petroleum, Sovereignty and Borders, Planning and Development, Consular Services and Passports, Industry, Money and Monetary Policy, Environment and Climate Change, international relations and foreign policy, investment, reconstruction and housing construction. Discussions during the sessions resulted in recommendations to increase the level of coordination and cooperation between the Ministry and relevant national authorities.

The conference concluded by documenting a set of political, diplomatic, administrative, technical, financial and organizational recommendations to lead to capacity building and investment in an environment of internal stability to continue to reaffirm Iraq’s foreign policy openness to all relations, based on solid foundations and common and balanced interests.
