Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs meets with Arab and foreign Ambassadors in support of female diplomatic work
H. E Ambassador Lina Omar participated with other female Ambassadors of countries accredited to the Republic of Bulgaria in a meeting organized by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mrs. Maria Gabriel. The main objective of the meeting was to send a strong message about the need for greater participation of women in the foreign policy, as well as to give confidence to young girls to build a career in modern diplomacy. In his speech at the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister said: “We want to highlight the talent and strengths of young women because they are changing the world around us for the better”, highlighting three main conditions of fundamental importance, first of all: to have more women in politics and women in leadership positions and in the International organizations such as the United Nations. Secondly, to support girls and women in the field of innovation and new technologies, as well as in the opportunities that the digital age brings. And she also added, that it is important to inspire more girls and women to choose to follow the path of foreign policy and diplomacy. The meeting highlighted the launch of a new initiative in coordination between Minister Maria Gabriel and the female Ambassadors “Ambassador for one Day”. The goal of the initiative is young girls from all over Bulgaria to learn more about work in the field of diplomacy, and also for women to choose the path of foreign policy and diplomacy.
