Meeting of the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in Bulgaria with the director of the Directorate “ Middle East and Africa “

The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in Bulgaria H.E. Mrs. Lina Omar held a meeting with H.E. Mr. Rumen Petrov, director of the Directorate “Middle East and Africa” in the ministry.

At the beginning of the meeting, Ambassador Lina Omar congratulated Mr. Petrov on his recent appointment to his current position, director of the Directorate “Middle East and Africa”  and emphasized the desire of the Iraqi government to strengthen relations and bilateral cooperation in all areas of common. interest between the two countries, as well as opening new horizons for cooperation. The focus was on the coordination and development of bilateral relations between Iraq and Bulgaria in the military, educational, cultural and economic fields.

 It was stated that the bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Iraq had an excellent foundation established more than 64 years ago. During the meeting, Ambassador Lina Omar touched on the issue of the possibility of opening Bulgarian Consulates General in the provinces of Basra and Erbil, and confirmed the readiness of the Embassy of Iraq in Bulgaria to provide assistance and full support for the achievement of this goal, on the background of the high levels of commercial exchange in 2022, which necessitates easing the procedures for issuing a Bulgarian entry visa.

 In this regard, Her Excellency the Ambassador issued an open invitation to Bulgarian companies to work in Iraq, to be able to use the advantage of the excellent investment opportunities in the country.
