Meeting with His Excellency the Bulgarian Prime Minister
The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq, Mrs. Lina Jalal Omar, met with His Excellency the Bulgarian Prime Minister, Mr. Kelp Donev during the opening ceremony of the new academic year (2023/2022) at the University of National and International Economy in Sofia.
In his welcome address to the new graduate class and the official guests assembled at the University’s Maxima Hall, the President of the University, Prof. Dimitar Dimitrov, gave the floor to the Prime Minister, Mr. Caleb Donev, in which he stressed that 95% of the students of the University of National and International Economy are successful and wished them to be “successful leaders” , He also wrote these words in the golden book of the university.
During the meeting between Ambassador Lina Jalal Omar and Prime Minister Caleb Dunev, they talked about the importance of participation in this day, and how to develop cultural relations between Iraqi and Bulgarian universities and a desire for Iraqi students to participate in studying in Bulgaria.
The President of the University of National and International Economy, Mr. Dimitrov, also indicated that Mr. Caleb Dunev is the tenth Prime Minister who had previously graduated from this university, and he also bragged about establishing the first digital college that will start studying during the current academic year. The university president added that “a digital communication network has been established via the Internet that covers the entire student life.” In addition, he expressed his satisfaction with the increase in the number of students admitted to the University of National and International Economy this year, even in the major paid majors. Mr. Dimitrov explained that the university has also linked 14 joint “Master’s” programs with Chinese and American universities (from Illinois), pointing to the good relationship that the university has with the United Nations General Assembly, banks, international companies and the training programs that are held with it.
The ceremony was also attended by Minister of e-Government Georgy Todorovo, Minister of Economy Nikola Stoyanov and a number of Arab and foreign dignitaries and embassies.
In conclusion, Prime Minister Kelp Donev participated in laying wreaths in front of the memorial to Professor Stefan Popshev, founder and first rector of the University of National and International Economy in Bulgaria.
