Meeting of the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Bulgaria with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mrs. Zarita Denkova
Ambassador Lina Omar met with the Deputy Foreign Minister H.E. Mrs. Zarita Denkova.
During the meeting, the Deputy Foreign Minister expressed her condolences to Iraq over the victims of the fire that engulfed Al-Hussein Hospital in Nasiriyah.
For her part, Ambassador Lina Omar thanked the Deputy Foreign Minister Mrs. Denkova for her condolences and expressed her positive impressions of the health sector in Bulgaria, emphasizing the great interest of Iraqi students in studying in Bulgaria, especially in the field of medicine. During the meeting, the Ambassador thanked for the good cooperation of the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry with the Iraqi Embassy in Sofia and wished the Bulgarian government and people successful parliamentary elections and soon announcing the formation of a new government. The two sides discussed a number of issues of common interest, such as the signing of a number of memorandums of understanding, investment promotion, visits by delegations, joint meetings of businesswomen from Iraq and Bulgaria ect. Opportunities for strengthening and developing economic cooperation between the two countries were outlined, with a focus on encouraging of investments. Bulgaria’s support for Iraq was stressed too during the meeting.
The issue of opening a direct flight between Baghdad and Sofia was also discussed at the meeting.
