The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq H.E. Lina Omar paid a courtesy visit to the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic and Demographic Policy and Minister of Tourism of the Republic of Bulgaria
The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Bulgaria, Mrs. Lina Omar, held a protocol meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic and Demographic Policy and Minister of Tourism, Mrs. Mariana Nikolova. Issues of common interest were discussed at the meeting, as well as ways to improve and deepen bilateral relations between the two countries. The meeting also discussed ways to intensify the work of the Joint Committee on Bulgarian-Iraqi Cooperation , to create opportunitie, and ways to strengthen trade and economic ties between Bulgaria and Iraq.
Ambassador Lina Omar invited Minister Nikolova to visit Iraq, stressing the need for official high-level reciprocal and business visits. A proposal was made for cooperation with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Iraq and providing an opportunity for treatment of Iraqi citizens in Bulgaria.
The Ambassador also called for the establishment of a women’s business forum with the participation of women business representatives in order to exchange business practices and support the process of economic, social, political and cultural development.
Ambassador Lina Omar thanked the Bulgarian government for its support in removing the name of Iraq from the list of high-risk countries in the field of money laundering and terrorist financing and expressed hope that this Bulgarian support would continue. The two sides expressed satisfaction with the meeting and stressed the need to continue joint co-operation to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
