Chargé d’Affaires attended a business forum of the Bulgarian-Iraqi Chamber of Commerce in Sofia
H.E Mr. Jassim Msawil, Chargé d’Affaires en pied attended the business forum held by the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in cooperation with Baghdad Chamber of Commerce in Sofia on Wednesday 11/09/2019. The opening speech was delivered by the President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Tsvetan Simeonov, in which he pointed to the satisfaction of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and its members to meet with their Iraqi counterparts, and pointed the importance of trade relations between Iraq and Bulgaria, the two friendly countries. He said, “it is good to listen from the Iraqi friends for the business environment in Baghdad and the development of the Iraqi economy”. He pointed to the need to develop and strengthen relations between the two countries and participate in exhibitions held in Bulgaria and Iraq. Mr. Mohammed Zaboun Al-Saadi, Vice-President of Baghdad Chamber of Commerce, briefed the establishment of Baghdad Chamber of Commerce in 1883 and its development since then. He stressed the importance of the Chamber in the Iraqi economy. He then touched on the circumstances that Iraq has gone through in recent decades, most recently the war on terrorism that has exhausted the economy. He also pointed to the reconstruction process held in Iraq and the need for the participation of Bulgarian companies in this process. He also pointed to the legislation approved by the Iraqi government and the Iraqi parliament that aims to encourage investment and facilitate its procedures, and the Chamber efforts and goals to develop relations with Bulgaria by establishment of investment companies in the two countries and expanding the trade exchange. H.E Mr. Jassim Msawil, delivered a brief speech in which he conveyed the desire of the Government of Iraq to deepen and strengthen relations between Iraq and Bulgaria at all levels and to raise the level of cooperation between the two countries. He stressed that the visit of the Baghdad Chamber of Commerce representatives will provide the appropriate platform to strengthen and expand relations and common understanding between businessmen in the two countries. He then pointed out that the economic environment and security stability in Iraq can be used to develop relations in the interest of the two countries. He stressed that the Government of Iraq considers the private sector a real partner in the development of the economy of the country, so Iraq sought to carry out major reforms to promote the economic reality and encourage investment movement. . In conclusion, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Baghdad Chamber of Commerce for cooperation between the two sides. Then small workshops were held between the businessmen of the two countries. The meeting was attended by a number of Bulgarian and Iraqi businessmen, as well as a number of members of the Baghdad Chamber of Commerce, as well as the second secretary at the embassy of Iraq in Sofia, Mrs. Dhoha Al-Bayati, responsible for the economic section in the embassy.
