Meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs during the “Women, Peace, Security” event

 On 26.02.2024 the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the Republic of Bulgaria H.E. Mrs. Lina Omar met with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Mariya Gabriel during the event “Women, Peace, Security”. The event was organized by the doyen of the diplomatic corps and Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco in Bulgaria, H.E. Mrs. Zakia El Midaoui and “More Women in Power” association. Co-organizers of the event were the president of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Tsvetan Simeonov and the president of the organization “Women Act Greece” May Zanni.

In her speech, Mrs. Mariya Gabriel recalled that “for the first time in its history, Bulgaria became a member of the Executive Council of UN-Women for the period 2023-2025. Bulgaria is also a member of the Human Rights Council for the period 2024- 2026. Among the main priorities of the country are the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women. The event was attended by prominent public figures and female Ambassadors accredited to the Republic of Bulgaria.
