Meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mrs. Mariya Gabriel during a celebration on the occasion of the Bulgarian Spring holiday

The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the Republic of Bulgaria, H.E. Mrs. Lina Omar, met with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Mariya Gabriel, during the Bulgarian Spring holiday on March 1, 2024, organized by the Embassy of Romania in the Republic of Bulgaria. In the speech she delivered, Mrs. Gabriel noted that: “Cultural diplomacy brings people together” and expressed her gladness that together with the guests of the event this bright and symbolic holiday was celebrated, adding that “cultural heritage unites us, it is an expression of the richness of our traditions. That is why it should be preserved and cherished and passed on to future generations”.

The Spring Festival is one of the oldest Bulgarian traditions. On this day, people exchange “Martenitsi”, which are braided red and white threads, which symbolize health and happiness during the year.

The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as their Excellencies Arab and foreign Ambassadors accredited in Bulgaria, as well as representatives of international missions and organizations in the country.
