Charge d’Affaires of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Iraq in New York meets with the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and the Head of the Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs.
Chargé d’Affaires of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Iraq to the United Nations in New York, Dr. Abbas Kadhom Obaid, met with, Ms. Rosemary Di Carlo, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Head of the Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs. During the meeting, many issues raised in the Security Council were discussed, including the Palestinian issue and its repercussions on regional and international peace and security, and the importance of finding sustainable solutions to stop the suffering of the Palestinian people. Iraq’s relationship with the United Nations in all fields was also reviewed through the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI).
The Chargé d’Affaires expressed his appreciation for the efforts and roles played by the United Nations and specialized international agencies in Iraq through its offices, pointing to the facilities provided by Iraq through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in coordination and cooperation with ministries and government institutions, looking forward to the importance of continuing coordination and cooperation with sectoral institutions for the purpose of implementing their national development programs and plans.
For her part, the Under-Secretary-General expressed her gratitude for the facilities and cooperation provided by Iraq to all United Nations offices in Baghdad, stressing the continued United Nations support for Iraq through partnership and technical assistance.
