Delegation of Iraq participates in the meeting of the Committee on Political and Decolonization Issues, the Fourth Committee, under the item International Cooperation in the Use of Outer Space
Counselor, Dr. Yarob Al-Tamimi delivered Iraq’s statement within the work of the Committee on Political and Decolonization Issues, the Fourth Committee, under the item International Cooperation in the Use of Outer Space, in which he stressed the role of space and its peaceful applications in various fields in continuous progress, as countries are very interested in investing space technology in achieving economic and social development.
Iraq seeks to intensify the dissemination of knowledge related to space technology and its applications in research centers and specialized Iraqi universities, as it contributes to accelerating the pace of scientific progress to achieve the desired goals.
Emphasis on the role of developed countries in this field and the need to provide technical assistance and training in it through the provision of workshops and study fellowships.
The speech reviewed examples of some of the positive activities and steps that Iraq has achieved that are related to outer space and its peaceful uses, such as urban planning data, and the development of national development plans based on information obtained for population, water, desertification and other scientific applications.
