Minister of Foreign Affairs meets a member of the National Security Council and the White House coordinator for the Middle East and North Africa

On the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly, held in New York, Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein met with member of the National Security Council and White House Coordinator for the Middle East and North Africa, Mr. Brett McGurk. During the meeting, they discussed the bilateral relations between Iraq and the United States of America, especially the military and security relations, and the mechanism for implementing the steps that were adopted during the strategic dialogue session. Also, they discussed the regional situation in the region, the current developments in it, and Iraq’s relations with the countries of the region.

The Minister stressed that Iraq, through its pivotal role, seeks to be a factor and a source of stability, calm and mediation to resolve differences between some countries in the region.

For his part, Mr. Brett McGurk expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by Iraq in promoting peace and stability in the region.
