Foreign Minister, Fouad Hussein, discusses with his Cuban counterpart bilateral relations and ways to develop them
Foreign Minister, Fouad Hussein, met with Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parilla, on the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The two ministers discussed bilateral relations and ways to advance them to achieve the aspirations of the two friendly peoples.
The Minister stressed the importance of scientific and cultural cooperation between Baghdad and Havana, and the signing of memoranda of understanding in various fields.
The two sides discussed the contents of cooperation in the topics on the agenda of the United Nations at its 77th session, the mutual support between the two countries in international organizations and conferences, and issues related to membership and candidacy, in addition to discussions that touched on the economic and political situation, and the ongoing preparations for Cuba to assume the presidency of the Group of 77 + China. As well as Iraq’s presidency of the same group in 2025.
For his part, Mr. Bruno Rodriguez Barilla affirmed his country’s readiness to strengthen relations with Iraq in various political, economic, cultural and commercial fields, expressing his government’s thanks for Iraq’s supportive stances at the United Nations, pointing out his country’s readiness to cooperate with Iraq.
At the end of the meeting, Foreign Minister, Fouad Hussein, extended an official invitation to the Cuban Foreign Minister to visit Iraq in the context of strengthening relations between the two countries.
