Second National Voluntary Review Report
Iraq is working through the competent national team to issue the second voluntary national review report, which will be presented to the high-level political forum to study and evaluate Iraq’s development needs and the extent of progress made in the framework of achieving the sustainable development goals.
Considering this framework, the permanent representative of the Republic of Iraq, Ambassador Mohammad Hussein Bahr Al-Uloom, held a virtual meeting with the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations on violence against children Mrs. Najat Mal Allah Majeed, to discuss a number of important paragraphs that will be included in the review report for 2021. in addition, the role of the United Nations in providing support, particularly logistical and technical, to prepare an objective and applicable report that meets the aspirations of the current period and the future.
Ambassador Bahr Al-Uloom emphasized that Iraq is keen to prepare the report in a manner that reflects the scale of the accumulated challenges for decades, the last of which is terrorism and the Corona pandemic which paralyzed many sectors and destroyed the structural and economic potential.
Therefore, Iraq is working, through the national team consisting of the competent governmental authorities and other international and local partners, especially the youth and the private sector, to develop a series of measures and plans to keep pace with the global pace of development and investment in future generations in a way that guarantees a better future for the country
