The Delegation of Iraq delivers the statement of Iraq at First Committee meetings under article – disarmament and regional security

On 30/10/2018, Third Secretary Suha Abdul-Karim delivers the statement of Iraq, pointing to the importance of nuclear-weapon-free zones as a cornerstone of regional confidence-building measures. 

Also, she mentioned that Iraq supports the establishment of such zones that contributes to the achievement of the desired goals of a world free of nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction. 

Iraq’s vision of a nuclear-weapon-free zone and other weapons of mass destruction in the Middle East, is that the Israel will disarm its nuclear weapons and accede to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons as a non-nuclear party, This is a prerequisite for the establishment of this region in the Middle East.
