ECOSOC Technical Subcommittees Elections
On April 16th 2018, the Economic and Social Council held its session to elect new members of the council technical subcommittees responsible for laying down the council schedule and the future goals that the council will have to achieve in the time ahead.
Iraq was selected among the Asian countries as a member of the following committees:
- Commission for Social development
- Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice
- UN Habitat
This election comes as a result of the effective foreign policy lines adopted by the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is also a reflection of the International Community’s confidence in Iraq’s capability to actively contribute as a key player/ pivotal actor in the region and on a global level.
