Ambassador Lukman Al-Faily Presents His Credentials to the United Nations Secretary-General

Today, Ambassador Lukman Al-Faily presented his credentials to H.E. Mr. António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Iraq to the United Nations in New York.
During the credentials ceremony, Ambassador Al-Faily conveyed the greetings of the Government and people of the Republic of Iraq to the Secretary-General, expressing Iraq’s appreciation for the vital role played by the United Nations in supporting Iraq across various fields, particularly in sustainable development, humanitarian assistance, reconstruction, and institutional capacity-building.
Ambassador Al-Faily reaffirmed Iraq’s strong commitment to the principles and purposes of the UN Charter and expressed Iraq’s full readiness to cooperate closely with the United Nations and its bodies to promote peace, security, and development at both the regional and international levels.
He also highlighted Iraq’s current leadership of the G77 & China, emphasizing the country’s dedication to representing the interests of the Group’s member states and cooperation within the multilateral system.
The Secretary-General welcomed Ambassador Al-Faily and wished him success in his mission, affirming the UN’s continued support for Iraq in its pursuit of stability and sustainable development.
