Iraq chairs the regular meetings of the Arab Group in New York

The Arab Group, at the level of permanent delegates to the United Nations in New York, held a meeting under the chairmanship of Iraq, which currently chairs the group.

The meeting was chaired by the Charge d’Affaires of the Republic of Iraq to the United Nations in New York, Dr. Abbas Kadhom Obaid. The meeting discussed political, social and economic developments in the region. Also, the Joint Arab action was coordinated in international meetings held at the organization’s headquarters.

The meeting included hosting Dr. Rula Dashti, Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), who reviewed the most important activities carried out by the ESCWA Executive Secretariat.

The meeting also witnessed the honoring of Dr. Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, in recognition of her winning the 2024 United Nations Population and Development Prize.
