Iraq participates in the meetings of the resumed session of the Legal Committee of the General Assembly
A meeting of the resumed session of the Sixth Committee (Legal) of the United Nations General Assembly was held at the United Nations Headquarters, which is devoted to discussing draft articles for preparing a convention on the prevention and punishment of crimes against humanity.
The Chargé d’Affaires of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Iraq to the United Nations in New York, Dr. Abbas Kadhom Obaid, Iraq’s statement in which he praised the efforts of the International Law Commission in preparing the draft, stressing Iraq’s vision regarding that draft, which confronts serious crimes that threaten all of humanity. Adding that the Iraqi people were one of the victims of those crimes committed by ISIS terrorist gangs; including mass murder, robbery, forced marriage, as well as the destruction of infrastructure and archaeological sites, according to their deviant doctrine.
