Iraq, in its capacity as Chairman of the Arab Group in New York for the month of October 2022, participates in the open dialogue session of the Security Council on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian issue

Iraq, in its capacity as Chairman of the Arab Group in New York for the month of October 2022, participated in the Security Council’s open dialogue session on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian issue, on October 28, 2022.  Deputy Permanent Representative of the Republic of Iraq, Mr. Sarhad Fattah, delivered a statement on behalf of the Arab Group .

The statement affirmed the centrality of the Palestinian issue to the entire Arab nation, the Arab, Islamic and Christian identity of occupied Jerusalem, as the capital of the State of Palestine, the right of Palestine to absolute sovereignty over all its lands occupied in 1967, and the need for the international community to exercise its role in ending the occupation and providing protection for the Palestinian people, and providing full support For the State of Palestine to obtain full membership in the United Nations.
