Foreign Minister meets US Special Envoy for Iran in New York
Foreign Minister, Fuad Hussein, met with the US Special Envoy for Iran, Mr. Robert Malley, on the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly, held in New York.
During the meeting, they discussed the political and security developments in the region and their repercussions, the reality of US-Iranian relations, and ways to activate the exploratory dialogues that took place previously, and they also touched upon the ongoing 5+1 negotiations in Vienna
The Minister stressed the importance of enhancing stability and adopting coordination opportunities and mechanisms, especially since Iraq follows the principle of de-escalation and the consequent interests of all parties, and its implications for security and peace in the neighborhood of Iraq and the region.
For his part, Mr. Robert Malley stressed the importance of adhering to the proper course of talks, expressing his thanks for the role played by Iraq in this field.
