Foreign Minister and his Saudi counterpart discuss bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to advance them to serve the interests of the two brotherly peoples

Fouad Hussein, the Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, in the context of the work of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, and they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, and ways to advance them to serve the interests of the two brotherly peoples. The two parties also discussed Iraq’s efforts to calm the situation and reduce tension between Riyadh and Tehran. Minister Hussein stressed that Iraq is keen to establish the best relations with the various countries of the world, especially the Arab countries, and the neighborhood; In order to activate common interests and confront common risks, he pointed to the importance of concerted efforts to restore stability to the region by adopting dialogue and non-interference in the internal affairs of countries, stressing the need for security coordination to combat ISIS terrorist gangs.

For his part, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan affirmed that his country supports the unity and stability of Iraq, noting that the tension in the region calls for more efforts, and everyone’s contribution to finding peaceful solutions that restore security and stability.
