The Minister of Justice and the Acting Minister of Labor and Social Affairs presents Iraq’s national speech at the 15th session of the Conference of the States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
H.E. Judge Salar Abdul Sattar Muhammad, Minister of Justice and Acting Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, head of the Iraqi delegation participating in the work of the 15th session of the Conference of the States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, presents Iraq’s national speech, which included:
- Iraq’s commitment within international normative frameworks and in accordance with its legal and moral obligations to spread a culture of equality
- Taking effective measures that enhance the societal participation of people with disabilities in public life and in several areas, in addition to providing medical and health care services in a way that ensures their enjoyment of a decent and dignified life.
- Iraq is also keen on securing medical products, mobility and audio-visual aids, and prosthetic limbs, and adopting modern technologies.
- Adoption and implementation of an inclusive, comprehensive and equal education policy framework to achieve societal integration and real participation in the field of education and overcoming differences based on disability in order to eliminate discrimination among students.
- Work to enable persons with disabilities to access decent work opportunities through employment policies and programs based on the standards of labor market requirements and support and motivation policies for various economic sectors
