Permanent Representative meets the Permanent Representative of Slovenia

The Permanent Representative met with the Permanent Representative of Slovenia, Ms. Darja Bavadaz-kuret, accompanied by Ambassador Tomaz Loverencic, Head of the Human Security Promotion Unit in the Republic of Slovenia.

The meeting discussed areas of cooperation in mine-clearance projects, assistance to those affected and a capacity-building program. The two leaders reviewed the efforts of the Slovenian government in this regard by establishing a body to enhance human security to assist victims of mines and land explosives in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The guests expressed the desire of the Slovenian government to conclude a memorandum of understanding with the Iraqi government in the areas of enhancing human security and mine clearance.

For his part, the Permanent Representative said that Iraq suffers from the presence of large numbers of explosive devices as a result of the wars he went through. He reviewed the Iraqi government’s efforts to remove the remnants of war-planted by ISIS in the liberated areas that impede the safe return of the displaced to their areas of residence.

At the end of the meeting, the Permanent Representative appreciated the interest of the Slovenian government in this regard, pointing out that the Representative will continue with the relevant government agencies to reach a formula agreement between the two governments in the field of strengthening human security and mine clearance.
