Ambassador Mohammed Hussein Bahr Al-Uloum, the Permanent Representative of Iraq, addressed the Security Council during the open meeting to discuss the report of the Secretary-General on UNAMI.

He addresses the thanks of the Government of Iraq to Mr. Ján Kubišfor his efforts in leading the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) during the past years and extended congratulations to his successor, Ms. Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert,

Also, he pointed out the formation of the new Iraqi government, which adopted a comprehensive ministerial platform based on determinants and priorities of a social, economic and security aspects that will serve all Iraqi citizens as well as will seek to consolidate national identity, promote community participation and protect human rights. Furthermore to establish strategic partnerships with the international and regional environment on the basis of common interests to strengthen Iraq’s standing in the international community.
