The delegation of Iraq participated in the meetings of Special Political and Decolonization Committee (Fourth Committee) under item (57) on the comprehensive review of special political missions. In this regard, on 08/11/2018, deputy head of the Department of International Organizations and Conferences, Minister Plenipotentiary Dr. Ali Hilal, addressed the Committee on the special political missions in general and United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) in supporting the efforts to support national reconciliation give a push to the political process, taking into an account the sovereignty and independence of Member States. And the need for full coordination with the host country during the implementation of the mandate given by Security Council. In the same context, he stated that the Government of the Republic of Iraq welcomes the Secretary-General’s decision to appoint Ms. Jainen Hennis Plasschaert as SRSG and the Head of United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq.
