Meeting with the Special Representative of the International Labour Organization in New York
H.E. Mr. Mohammed Al-Sudani, Minister of Labour and Social Affairs of the Republic of Iraq and the Permanent Representative Ambassador Mohamed Ali Alhakim met on 10/2/2015, Ms. Jane Stewart Special Representative and Director of the International Labour Organization Office to the United Nations in New York. H.E. Mr. Sudany pointed during the meeting that the government of Iraq continues to implement its programme and make the necessary reforms to the social protection programme, labor market and pension fund, despite the present security and economic challenges facing Iraq, and the Iraqi need of ILO’s support to the government’s efforts to develop its social protecting programmes and capacity building, based on experiences from other countries to assist in the implementation of the government programme efficiently. On her part, Ms. Stewart confirmed the readiness of the organization and the Working Group to support Iraq and help to implement a comprehensive strategy developed by its government within the framework of the post-2015 sustainable development agenda.
