ELECTION OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE General Assembly session 73

On 05/06/2018 at the elections session attended by all State-Members to the United Nations, Iraq participated to elect the President of the General Assembly Session 73 for the period (September 2018 – September 2019), where Ms. Maria Fernanda Espinosa of Ecuador was elected for this vital position.

It is worthy to mention that Ms. Espinosa will succeed the President of current session 72, Mr. Miroslav Lajcak of Slovakia which his mandate is to end by September 2018.

During a meeting with the president-elect, H.E. Ambassador Bahr AlUloom the Iraqi Permanent Representative affirmed the support of Iraq to the new president’s proposed agenda to achieve the Iraqi Interests within the framework of the United Nations system and the interests of the international community.
