The Director-General of the OPCW addressed a letter to people of Halabja

The Director – General of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), H.E. Ahmet Uzumeu, addressed a letter to  people of Halabja, recalling the crime committed by the former Iraqi regime against people of the city, which resulted the loss thousands of civilians’ lives.

On behalf of the OPCW the Director-General expressed his condolences to families of the victims and expressed ongoing support of the OPCW and those who have been suffering consequences continued of that heinous crime.

On 16 March each year, Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) commemorates the day of the heinous crime against humanity that has displaced thousands of citizens from the city of Halabja. This year marks the 30th anniversary of this tragedy.
