Columbia University Hosts Two-Day Conference on Iraq

Ambassador Mohammed Alhakim, Permanent Representative of Iraq to the United Nations, delivered the opening remarks at Columbia University’s conference on Iraq entitled Radical Increments Towards New Platforms Engaging Iraqi Studies.  The conference was a critical and analytical success and was developed by Dr. Muhsin al-Musawi and Dr. Abeer Shaheen, both of Columbia University.  The attendance included professors and scholars from universities across the US as well as students and the public and delved not only into the well known issues of ISIS, security and political realities, but gave great attention to aspects of Iraq that are generally overlooked, but very much central to the life and condition of Iraq such as culture, arts, education and healthcare.
