Ambassador meets the Russian Deputy Minister of Energy

On February 20, 2020, Ambassador Dr. Abdulrahman Hamid Al-Hussaini met Mr. Pavel Sorokin, Russian Deputy Minister of Energy, to discuss the bilateral relations in the fields of energy (oil, gas, electricity).

The Ambassador stressed on Iraq keenness to develop the relations with the Russian Federation in the energy sector and providing the support to Russian companies working in Iraq, pointing out to the importance of increasing Russian investments in the energy field to serve the interests of both friendly countries, indicating that the Embassy will support all Russian companies willing to work in Iraq by facilitating all the necessary procedures with the responsible authorities in Iraq. The two parties also discussed the possibility of employing the Iraqi students graduated from Russian universities (engineering specializations in the fields of energy) in Russian companies operating in Iraq, the Corona virus danger and its impact on the energy market, they also discussed the bilateral cooperation between Iraq and the Russian Federation on stabilizing oil prices in global markets through Iraq work within OPEC
