Ambassador lecture at the Valdai Discussion Club
On September 19, 2019, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the Russian Federation, H.E. Haidar Mansour Hadi, gave a lecture at the Valdai Discussion Club about the history of the diplomatic relations between Iraq and Russia and the important developments in the region. The lecture was attended by academics and experts on Middle East issues as well as a number of Russian and foreign media.
Ambassador explained in his lecture that the Iraqi embassy is seeking to continue the cooperation with Russia through signing many new agreements to develop bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields, pointing out to that the diplomatic relations between Iraq and Russia is an advanced model in diplomatic cooperation and understanding on international and regional decisions. As for the upcoming visit of the Russian Foreign Minister Mr. Sergei Lavrov to Iraq next month, the Ambassador said that the visit reflects the will of the two countries to develop their relations. The Ambassador pointed out to that the two countries are having high-level joint coordination in the field of fighting the terrorism through the Coordination Center in Baghdad, which had an important positive results in fighting the terrorist groups.
After the lecture the Ambassador answered the questions on the most important developments in the Middle East especially the recent events in Saudi Arabia, H.E. stressed on that Iraq is keen on the security of all countries in the region and is calling all countries to use the dialogue to avoid potential conflicts in the region, and that Iraq is keen to be a balance force in the region by keeping good relations with all neighboring countries and not entering the pole – policy.
