Ambassador meets the Chairman of the Committee for Science, Education and Culture of the Russian Federal Council.

On February 6, 2020, Ambassador Dr. Abdulrahman Hamid Al-Hussaini, with the presence of the cultural attaché, Prof. Dr. Habib Mutasher Abboud, Mrs. Lylya Gumerova, the Chairman of the Committee for Science, Education and Culture of the Russian Federal Council. During the meeting the parties discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries and the ways of expanding them in all fields, especially in the fields of education and culture.

Ambassador thanked the Russian side for hosting Iraqi students in Russian universities, asking the Chairman of the Committee for Science, Education and Culture of the Russian Federal Council for joint cooperation to solve problems faced by Iraqi students studying in the Russian Federation, such as cases of fraud and extortion by some of the owners of companies operating in the field of study invitations, also they discussed the problem of not allowing Iraqi students that study in Russia to take their families with them because they were not granted entry permits, and the negative reflection of this matter on their marital status.

As for the cooperation between the two countries in the field of culture, excavation of antiques and preservation them, the Ambassador expressed the desire of the Iraqi side to increase cooperation between the two countries in this field. For her side the Chairman of the Committee for Science, Education and Culture affirmed her country’s support for cooperation with Iraq in the field of culture by providing consultations in all aspects related to excavation of antiquities or cooperation between Iraqi and Russian museums, as well as inviting Iraqi specialists to participate in conferences, seminars and cultural exhibitions held in Russia to take advantage of the activities taking place in these events.
