Foreign Minister Meets with High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy in European Union
Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim met with Mr. Josef Borrell, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy in European Union.
Minister Alhakim expressed his appreciation for the European Union’s supportive positions to Iraq and its assistance in all fields, and called for continued support in the reconstruction of the liberated areas, especially the completion of the implementation of development projects by the European Union, which were announced to be implemented during the Kuwait Conference in 2018.
Minister Alhakim stressed the importance of respecting the sovereignty of Iraq by all parties, expressing absolute refusal to turn it into an arena for conflict, or a starting point for attacking any country, and confirmed the need to support Iraq’s efforts to be a factor of stability and harmony in the region and the world.
The two sides also discussed activating the outcomes of the second round of the Iraqi-European political dialogue that took place in Brussels on 13/1/2020, and the importance of resuming the meetings of the sub-committees of the partnership and cooperation agreement between Iraq and the European Union.
