Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Receives British Home Secretary to Discuss Enhancing Security Cooperation

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein received the British Secretary of State for Home Department Ms. Yvette Cooper in Baghdad on 26 November 2024. 

The meeting dealt with bilateral relations between the Republic of Iraq and the United Kingdom, with attaching special importance on strengthening cooperation in security areas, the two sides also touched on ways to combat organized crime and human trafficking, in addition to discussing mechanisms to bolster security capacities and exchange expertise between the two countries.

Minister Fuad Hussein added that “security cooperation between Iraq and the United Kingdom constitutes a fundamental pillar for strengthening security and stability in both countries to address common challenges.

Additionally they emphasized the importance of continuing bilateral coordination to enhance the partnership between the two friendly countries across various areas of common concern.
