Participation the official annual inauguration ceremony of Manchester’s new Lord Mayor

Consul General, Dr Wael Al-Robaaie, attended the official annual inauguration ceremony of Manchester’s new Lord Mayor, Councillor Shaukat Ali. The event took place at Manchester Cathedral and was attended by senior political, diplomatic, media and community figures, including members of the UK Parliament and House of Lords, civic leaders from Greater Manchester, and consuls general.

The ceremony featured official proceedings, speeches by representatives of various faith communities, and religious observances, followed by a formal reception at Manchester Town Hall.

During the event, the Consul General emphasised the importance of strengthening cooperation between diplomatic missions and local authorities, as well as supporting the engagement and contributions of the Iraqi community in the wider society. He reaffirmed the Consulate General’s commitment to fostering strong relations and congratulated the new Lord Mayor on his appointment, wishing him success in his new role.
