Iraqi Students in UK Universities: Reality, Challenges, and Future Prospects

The Consulate General of the Republic of Iraq in Manchester organised a seminar titled:

“Iraqi Students in UK Universities: Reality, Challenges, and Future Prospects.”

The seminar hosted a large number of Iraqi scholarship students and expatriate students from the Universities of Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, and Sheffield, in the presence of a distinguished group of Iraqi academic professors working at British universities.

The Consul General, Dr. Wael Al-Robaaie, welcomed the attendees, emphasising the Consulate’s commitment to maintaining communication with Iraqi students and providing the necessary support to facilitate their academic journey. He also highlighted the importance of identifying their needs and addressing their challenges through coordination with the Iraqi Embassy and the Cultural Attache in London. He wished them success in their studies, encouraged them to raise Iraq’s profile, and to benefit practically from the experiences and knowledge they will gain in the United Kingdom.

The students expressed their appreciation and gratitude to the Consulate General for these initiatives. Their views and challenges were discussed, and an exchange of perspectives took place between students and academics. The seminar concluded with the presentation of certificates of appreciation to the participating students.

At the end of the session, certificates of appreciation were presented to the students in attendance, and it was agreed to continue to hold meetings, keep communication and follow-up, form student associations, and come up with proposals that will be submitted to the relevant authorities.
